Most recently, I&#8217;ve taught in library and information science. At WSU, I taught Intro to the Information Professions, the introductory MLIS course, Organization of Knowledge, the entry level cataloging course but a wonderful opportunity to think about epistemology and categories, and Evaluation Research, a small-scale, qualitative research course for practitioners. I was nominated for the President&#8217;s Award for Excellence in Teaching for this work.<\/p>\n<p>I also led a seminar in Media Theory for advanced, independent learners in Detroit.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, I served as a Teaching Assistant at UCSC. TAs at UCSC typically lead section discussions, provide mini-lectures, and do other bona fide teaching work in addition to grading, despite the title &#8220;assistant.&#8221; I thoroughly enjoyed my cross disciplinary teaching in film, philosophy of science, science and technology studies, feminist studies, and interdisciplinary humanities. I was honored with the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award for my teaching at UCSC.<\/p>\n<p>I have also taught in my various capacities as a librarian, with responsibilities for formal information literacy classes as well as lots of on-the-fly, one on one instruction of patrons using old and new information technologies.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to teaching, I enjoy skill sharing opportunities to learn from others and share what I know about gardening, chickens, fixing old cars, finding credible information online, and genetic genealogy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My teaching background is strongly multi-disciplinary.
